I understand that Stamps.com calls it a tracking number, but when you plug it
into the USPS.com database it tells you that service you purchased is signature
confirmation.
Which is another animal entirely, and it also states that delivery status will
be provided when available - but nothing about tracking.
Believe me - I use the paypal label printing service all the time, and paypal
says it is giving me a tracking number - but it's not good to track anything,
it's just delivery confirmation.

I get tracking info no matter what method I ship(priority, first class,
express, etc). That said, I don't have a lot of faith in the actual tracking
capability of the USPS.
