I use the main post office in a small town south of san diego.

They have a business line, and have issued "business line" cards for business
people. There is also a large sign with "business line" posted as you walk in
to the room with window clerks and endless lines.
No waiting, first in line.
Perhaps one of your branch post offices also offers the same service.  It's a
national USPS program to encourage more business participation.
p.s.  The $6 billion red ink per annum that the post office blames on 'too much
competition from emails'---does not bother to factor into the equation:
---low productivity---no incentives for efficiency---fuck you attitude toward
customers---endless, unnecessary lines---while additional employees fraternize
in the back room---basic 'government employee' disregard for anything other
than the next break and/or extended vacation
At least it's not the Polish Post Office.  But, that's another story.
