Is this where the 1970 Star Child poster comes from, I wonder, the ones that
are confusingly stamped with 74/***** number one the back?)

"return engagement" sounds suspiciously like a re-release. I wonder if they
had new posters?

And for those who are still interested in the 2001 release dates saga, I
happened to come across an article in one of the New York Time's film reference
books over the weekend. It may or may not be available online, but it does
touch on the history of the film up to that point (the article, by Vincent
Canby, is dated May 3 1970):

"..these thoughts are prompted by a return visit, 10 days ago, to see
"2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY"... the movie, which was playing a return engagement at
the Ziegfeld Theater when I saw it, can be seen in 70mm, with stereo sound, at
the Paramus 4 (and other theaters)...

(the book) 'The Making of Kubrick's 2001' follows the curious commercial
course of the film that opened in New York on April 3rd 1968 to almost
unanimous pans from the daily press and then went on to become a cult film, a
head film, a film to recant by, and a smashing commercial success (earnings to
date in the United States: $15,985.000)."
