Hello Mopo - I am so excited Today I will go to Detroit and meet Leslie
Zemeckis
wife Of Robert Zemeckis who did a movie called : Behind the Burly Q "
that is a documentry on Burlesque.
Awhile Back I got a call about Gambling Posters well the woman is a old
friend Carole Licata whos Burlesque stage nme was Val Valentine.. she
was a Big Burlesque artist with peole like tempest Storm , Blaze Starr ,
Lili st Cyr amoungst others..
So Carole says " Im in a movie" I say oh yeah... wellId love to help
doing promotion
she says well here sleslies email.. go for it... so for past month I
contacted papers and we landed a article in the Toledo City Paper a
local give away... I contacted two Universitys and then I flyered the
entire region and traveled town to town to record stors and cofffe shops
and bookshops posting flyres and postcards..
See Burlesque was misunderstood as it merged strippers with Vaudville ..
so its Big pop culture history that need to be preserved..
and the fact that Leslie had the guts to do this is amazeing..... so I
applaude female filmakers
and the fact shes the wife of one of my all time fave Directors is just
amazeing also..
she also did a movie with Carrie fishers and she also is a actreess and
did several acting roles
in beaowulf and also Polar lights...
So this is cool.. Im taking my son Tommy and his Girlfriend ... Val will
be there and others.
The detroit institute of arts is awesome and this is the 2nd thing i did
there ... a few months ago the Mary pickford institute had me make them
a Hand craank 35mm camera for a live production ... I didnt know it
was the DIA.... :)
anyways I love film stuff and this is a nice opportunity.... also I
received a email from a Director thats making Indie films and wants me
to promote so Im getting to see part of my Dream to help people,,
'I hope I can do this and make peoples Dreams happen.... I was able to
get the Vttamin Angels of Santa Barbara to call the Toledo ministries
and give vitamins to help impoverished
after I thought hmmmm maybe I can connect people for a common cause...
Well Mopeo has encouraged me to pursue it and Not Give up! thank YOU
