I guess I have to see TOKYO STORY now...

FYI.  I just finished watching (via Netflix dvds) THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN.  This 
old TV series is really great.  It's from the early
eighties, and while it's tech is decidedly eighties, the writing is superb.  
Recommended.
