Hello MOPO,
Can anyone shed any light on this? There are two versions of this
poster. They use different typefaces in the title treatment. Which
one is 1st release and how do you know?

Think it was <http://lynchposters.com>lynchposters.com.
Seem to remember last time I wanted to check having to look at the
pages using wayback machine.
Though I don't believe this has ever been nailed down the likeliest
scenario seems to be:
Block type with no in-print fold lines is the first version.
Lynch reportedly didn't like the typeface so second version done
with thinner type, again without the in-print fold lines reproduced
in the artwork (Nance's chin etc.)
After that there's the ones reproduced from earlier posters with
fold lines reproduced and also fakes.
There's some discussions on NSFGE that should show up with a search.
Also Bruce has had quite a few and he makes some observations on
paper (matt rather than gloss) in the descriptions found in the past auctions.

there is a website devoted to the Eraserhead poster releases, but I
did a search and couldn't find it easily
maybe you can spend your lunch hour trying. it's out there
somewhere and showed a checklist of the posters in chronological order
maybe someone else here knows the url
