Peter,

If doing this *IS *increasing the amount of bidders for you, then by all
means it makes sense to do so.

I have thought that letting people see the current bid prices encourages
them to bid, but maybe this *ISN'T* true.

How about it *MOPO*? *Should I hide the bid prices on current (and past)
items from everyone who isn't registered?* I am all for anything that will
get us more bidders..

On extended bidding, ALL real world auctions have it, and I personally have
found that only *VERY *knowledgeable bidders like fixed time ended
auctions. But eventually, all people learn about sniping, and then most
auctions sit at a low price, and then the snipes roll in, so the effect is
that you are participating in a "blind bid" auction where everyone gets
exactly one bid, and as I say only *VERY *knowledgeable bidders like that,
because it does give them an advantage.

If extended bidding results in higher prices overall, then doesn't that
make it harder for auctions that don't have it to get consignments?

But there are no right answers to these kinds of questions. My business has
continued to grown as I have made many changes, and of course I stick with
those that work for us, and abandon those that don't. And what works for
one business might well not work for others, and vice versa.

I would love to see discussions on these and other topics of interest to
movie poster collectors, dealers and auctions!

Bruce
