>yes i remember donnie and susan and Jr,,,thanks for reminding
me..also Yemember allthe fake poster alerts, lawsuits and all t
linenbackers nd the famous sage of the minty whites,,
i think like model train collectors the hobby is getting thinned out.
and big titles are only at super collector prices..at auctions like
Heritage when I satred we had no internet in 1977 so we had papers
liek Bigreel Din Key Classi Images sam Rubin and Film collectors
world Rick best and alan fine then Brian Bukantis bout them and
cjhanged to Movie collectors world.. we also had the Cineevent and
the Philsueling NYC shows Mulqueens show and Ray courts hollywood
shows. so alot has changed in the arena as to contraversy its calmed
down as people have aged , and the industry has morphed into almost a
general pop culture bleneding Comics, movie, music and all into one
segment.... Funny as thats what I tried to do ijn 1977 was a merger
of all including Films Toys. autographsm books, and earlt animation
projection.. so thats what it is now..
as its hard to specialize in one area.... look at all the comic sjops
that bit the dust and baseball card shops..
art and pop culture are really so many things. just as films where
and are but what I see is that its all homogenized as the general
public wants basically the same.... a Big screen Tv,, a large library
on demand of films via cable.. a nice audio system and a food center
and a nice car,, otherwise I think my prediction of minimalist living
is happening as people dont want to save 1000s of back issue mags ,
posters in the attic or basement or boxes and coxes of sealed toys,,
just for the sake of saving,,, as most seemed to be more interested
in the investment then the passion as they didnt even look at them
for years, ... so priorities have changed,,,
>Jon loss, illiness , and cost cutting have again changed the
platform...but I also think its a great time for peopel that just
want to catch and release stuff,,, like me as the markets soft and
people want to get rid of stuff,,, so in a way for those that just
like old stuff as a entertainment its a good time... as it was nt all
about the momey part of the fun was sharing with peopel the love of
movies and being able to pay overhead with the profits and
reinvesting into a new crop... Ive been repairing Old movie
projectors as I like doing it.. and if I can keep getting them and
selling them cheap Im a happy camper... and it makes people happy
when they can watch old home movies,, and that reward is
pricless.....so as far as talk... I suggest everyone go back before
profit was the main issue and thonk what they liked about the movies
and biz and the materials associated with it.. as its a very
interesting business and the history of how it came to be still
fascinates me..its only a lttle over 100 years old...there s so much
to learn, have a great 2014 MOPO
