This poster for LIFE IS REAL, the US release title for KENTUCKY MINSTRELS
(1934), is on card stock similar to a window card but measures 9 ¼” x 22”.

It was printed by Bower Show Print in Fowler, Indiana. Its narrow width
makes it the perfect size for posting on telephone poles or lampposts, which
was probably the intention.

I’d be interested to know if anyone has ever come across this format before.

Btw, from what I’ve read, the movie itself was something of a milestone: it
was the first British film to feature black performers, primarily Scott &
Whaley, who were African-American musical hall performers who immigrated to
the UK and became radio stars. Nina Mae McKinney, who is featured
prominently on this poster for US consumption, apparently only had one
musical number in the film.

Thanks,

Dave
