This window card is for the 1934 black cast musical LIFE IS REAL, originally
released in the UK as KENTUCKY MINSTRELS.

Though given top billing on the poster, McKinney, who made her name in King
Vidor’s 1929 all-black musical HALLELUJAH, only had a single musical number
in this film. The real stars were Harry Scott and Eddie Whaley, two
transplanted African American vaudeville artists who became music hall and
radio stars in Britain.

Printed by Bower Show Prints on typical window card stock for the period,
the poster is an odd narrow format, 9 ¼” x 22”, tailor-made for tacking to
telephone poles.

A great and scarce piece to complement any collection of Separate Cinema
memorabilia.
