Why would a seller set up their auction to private (all bidders
shown as 'private' including their eBay rating)?
What is the benefit to this?
As a potential bidder it makes me think the seller could be doing
some shill bidding.
Because of this I am very skeptical in getting in a bidding war with
a private ebay auction.
Your thoughts?
they have paranoia
there is a poker belief that is just as stupid
when you sit down in a hold-em game out here in Vegas, you have to
"post" the big blind in whatever seat you are in to join the game.
many people wait until the big blind would otherwise come to their
seat and join in.. that's okay
other people believe that they should come in the game "behind the button"
when you ask them why they will say something like "coming in behind
the button you have the advantage because you aren't 'up front. when
you play your first hand"
say what??
myself, I just come in whatever seat I am in. I came to play poker,
not watch people play poker. I don't have any particular disadvantage
playing whatever hand I have in whatever position
so I see these people as having a paranoia. One of many. many people
don't want to buy into a game with their $300 or $500 or whatever
when someone has $5000 on the table.
They're afraid that the player will put pressure on them. so what.
as far as I'm concerned, if I sit down with $500 and you have $5000,
when you play me, you only have $500 because you can't get the other
4500 in. If I was afraid of losing the $500, I wouldn't be sitting in
the game to begin with
paranoia.. it will destroy ya
