From the UK Adrian Cowdry stopped by my shop aand bought Bond and
kubrick material... Zeev Drach stopped by from Canada and bought lobby
cards..Jim Episale from New jersay has ordered many time..
I became great friends with Ira Ruebenstein while he was on west coast
and he invited my son named Tommy to tour the old MGM studions which was
sony picture when Ira was there, Greg Douglas our Guitar legend from
Steve miller Band invited my Brother and me to a concert he did in OHIO
witha all star cast of music legend like chris slade from ac/dc
Mope has been that coffe shop you wish you could find off the beaten
track of lif
There are so many indstry people on the list that kow others in the
biz.. and many are old like me in 600s ,70 sand so they tend to be
treasure troves of Knowledge and histor like Sue and ed Poole, Bruce
Hershenson, Sue heim, Alan Adler, Todd frietage, aall the heritage
people Like Grey Smith and all the auction house, Rich Haluaga, there
are so many and some are published authours like Jim Gresham, and are
poster fixers that do archival restoration and work in and with
Musdems..
and yes.. there are the peddlers like me who have just been around 40
years...
many actually make good money and work in the business....
the cool part of mopo is its founder Scott Burns is one of the kindest
people on the internet and has given us aall a opportunity to connect
and communicate..sometimes we have more fireworks here then the 4th of
july.. but most times we have peacce and brotherhood and sisterhood as
the fem ales are very kind and helpful...
So in my case ive called Mopo my family as ive got to know many on a
personal level and its great when someone understands your Kink of pop
culture/ like Mopo does...Ive learned so many things about poster from
people that share the info..liekDario Casedi, and others who are also on
my facebook page...
and the fellow dealers offer us a barometer of whas selling and also
security efforts like who is scamming others and sme of the legal things
would cause the pope to blush....
Mopo is not perfect but its really good and I enjoy it 99% are good joes
only 1 % are troubled but they soon wize up and stop there nonsense or
mope as awhole puts them in thier place..
also you here abou trends in Posters or ones that are hard to find.. and
so each time we get to ad a tool in the tool chest..
You will Find each dealer has a speciallty where i fall into a general
Md ad sell all related items to the movie like toys and pop culture..
many though just sell high ened movie posters and thats great...I see it
all as having connection as when you see even a vintage artifact liek a
car, ora various piece in a movie iysts what give it the iconic look..
and many Props where simply made from repurposed JUnk...lke the light
saber from Sat wars was actually and old Flashgun from Graflex and
heiland flash gus for press cameras..and i have several of them in the
rough before they got modified for screen use...
the back story of Moo is a very intertwined and cool story.. wheyu hear
about people like Deke who wrote songs for the Jacjkson 5 you see that
we havea wide array of people who share a similar love of Movies and the
art from them..
my son and i met Drew struzan at a star wars convention.. as hes one of
my fave i was in awe.... then i foundout he did Alice coopers album
covers and others when he started.. well I met Alice in 1972 when he was
just stared and lived in Michigan and played Toledo all teh
time..Pontiac Mich...
A friend told me Carl Jung Frueds associate called it serindipity and
that we all share so many things from the same sources
it maY Have been called anothewr name i forgot what the theory was
caled//
its all french to me...LOL:)
but in summery the best and always the best is sincere word of
mouth..when people talk about your service and how you treat others
thats what builds friendships that last yeras.. evemn if you get sick
even if you make a few mistakes ,even if you go broke... good friends
are what matter in the long haul....imho..
