This is indeed extremely sad news. I met Stanislas at several posters shows many years ago, and again in 1990 in Paris when I visited there with Jose Carpio, and he was a most gracious host.
And he was indeed a major pioneer of the hobby, and his books on French posters were wonderful. He added so much to the hobby.
