*One of the greatest joys of auctioning millions of items is that sometimes I am consigned items that are REALLY special! Consider this 1971 hardcover book of The Exorcist ending Sunday at https://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=7124056 <https://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=7124056> It is a VERY special example of this book. It was owned by Ken Ryan, who was the film's "production accountant and auditor". He is listed in the actual film credits, but IMDb does not list him, likely because they don't list absolutely everybody connected with each movie. He took this example of this book, which is a hardcover in its dust jacket, around with him on the set, and he got signatures from the key people in the movie, plus a couple of others, who apparently had become personal friends of his. It has been personally autographed (signed) by EIGHT people: Linda Blair, Max Von Sydow, William Friedkin, William Peter Blatty (as "Bill Blatty"), Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, Sandy Lovelace, AND Gina Petrushka! Apparently, Ken Ryan was of his time and quite a hippie (and perhaps a drug connection for these people!), because the inscriptions are quite friendly, and filled with love, and two of them address him as "the hippy" and Jason Miller's inscription says, in part, "We shall smoke again around the fire", but we just don't know. The inscription by William Peter Blatty (the author of the source novel) says "Your friend, the demon", and is signed "Bill Blatty". Gina Petrushka played the small part of "Willi", so we strongly suspect she had a personal relationship with Ken Ryan, which was why she inscribed it. Stranger still, is the inscription from "Sandy Lovelace". We don't know who she is, and the inscription ends with "with love from me & my sister Linda", implying that she is the sister of the famous Linda Lovelace from "Deep Throat", but that might have been a joke!The book is currently at $485, and that seems like quite a bargain!*
