Hello All - I like Keith's idea, for this would allow for disagreement with summaries without editing the original opinion.  I also agree that after a certain time frame or when additions/modifications die down), the original author or the moderator can modify the original to put it in sync with the majority opinion.

I still believe that some sort of moderator/lead person/author will have to take ownership of a particular subject in order to move the process along.

Keith is still around, my lack of participation notwithstanding. I am still keenly interested in the issues the MOQ.org forums were intended to discuss but have been too distracted by work and graduate school and other interests to participate properly. I want to express my agreement and support with several points that have been raised during the discussion of the future of this list:

* I find MOQ_Discuss too overwhelming and, if I am to participate at all need a slower pace, such as that of MOQ_Focus.
* However, as has been repeated, a problem with any listserv is that has no "latching" mechanism, leading to divergent, not convergent discussions.

* I find the idea of a Wiki web quite intriguing, as it would allow collaborative document creation, potentially leading to convergence.

* However, the wide-open nature of Wiki may make its eraser too powerful, too dynamic for the latching we're looking for, letting us slip back into divergence.

One alternative (or perhaps, complementary tool) to Wiki is the Crit Suite http://www.crit.org/, which allows unrestricted comments on (but not modification of) a web page. After a summary or other essay has been posted to MOQ.org, I can imagine using this tool to post comments and critiques to the article that anyone can read and agree or disagree with. The author can then take these comments into account when revising and posting a new version. Just one more idea to throw into the mix.
