There are a couple of possible problems. 

WordPad could have converted the plain ASCII text file into a binary format
such as used by Word. The tps programs require plain ASCII files. Need to
save it as a txt file but see below.

The file might have a hidden additional extension as a result of saving the
file using WordPad. A file by the name xxx.tps might now be called
xxx.tps.txt with only the xxx.tps part of the name visible in Windows
Explorer. In that case you should change the options (Click on Tools, Folder
Options, View and then uncheck the default to "Hide extensions for known
file types". You can then change the name back to xxx.tps.
