This is a rather detailed exposition of my standard procedure for the
initial setup of a data file for use in Morpheus. Let's assume it has
two groups of 56 females and 52 males with 9 3D landmarks and no missing
data.
1) The easiest way to work directly with coordinate data is in
NTSYS/GRF-ND format where the rows represent the specimens and the
columns are the coordinates of the landmarks. So, the data would look
something like:
1 108 27 0
...bunch o' numbers....
The "1" is NTSYS-speak for "rectangular data matrix."
The "108" is the number of rows = specimens.
The "27" is the number of coordinates = 9 landmarks x 3 dimensions - x1,
y1, z1, x2, y2, z2,....
The "0" indicates no missing data (missing data is supported, but not
discussed here).
2) Import this into Morpheus, and "Save as" a morpheus file. Pay
attention to the number of dimensions assumed in the importing. For the
above example, Morpheus would correctly guess this is 3D data, but it
could be wrong in other cases.
3) Either using the same data or reloading the new Morpheus file, group
and label the data from the command line:
group 56 52
label female male
4) Save the data file - the grouping and labeling will be saved with the
data.
5) Use the graphics "Opts" to turn on point numbering. Look at the plot
of a single specimen and set up your links. Type these into an ascii
text file in the following format:
LINK i j
where i and j are the numbers of the points between which you would like
a link drawn. For example,
LINK 1 2
LINK 1 3
LINK 2 3
would draw a triangle between points 1, 2, and 3.
Save this file. It is a legitimate Morpheus file. I like to use .mdt,
but it is not mandatory.
6) Load in the grouped and labeled Morpheus file saved in step 4. Use
"File|Append" to load in the links.
7) You can then save the file and the links will be saved with the data
and group/label info. If you have a fixed set of links you will use for
several data sets, keep the link file around, e.g., I have one called
something like "trtl-lnk.mdt" that I can use for several turtle data sets.

Hi everyone!
Does anybody know (I suppose the moderator does) if and how I can make
or load a links file in Morpheus to be displayed combined with spline
graphs?
Thanks a lot
