I am the Dir. of 3D Channel Sales - Americas for Immersion MicroScribe
articulated arm digitizers and measuring arms.
As Jim notes you can still purchase note book PCs with Windows XP. In
particular Dell offers your choice of operating systems when you
configure any one of their Note book PC workstations. It means you do
not have to go thru any re-install process.
I hope this helps.

I'm an Immersion MicroScribe dealer and while I know that Immersion
specifies XP, Vista may work. I have not tried it myself, but can early
next week if you have the time to wait over the weekend. However, I
know that many computer companies will install XP instead of Vista if
requested. Alternatively, you can purchase an OEM version of XP for
about $80US and install it yourself. I just did this to replace Vista
on a laptop that I wanted to run Rhino3D and the MicroScribe G2 on for
an upcoming conference. Other than downloading about 6-8 drivers from
the manufacturers web site, the install was painless.
If you'd like more technical details, or for me to try a MicroScribe G2
with Vista on Monday, let me know and I'd be happy to provide the
details either directly or through this forum.

Hello everyone,
I'm working with a microscribe G2 system. I must buy a laptop or
notebook
but all of them comes with windows vista. I know that many people have
compleins with windows vista. So I have some doubts if the drivers of
microscribe are compatible with Vista and I want to be sure that I
can use
the laptop with the miscroscribe. Any help is great.
Thanks
