I agree with Jim the Laser is a great option and I would suggest
purchasing a 6Dof device. Currently we have several demo MLX 6Dof
Microscribe's and Lasers available for sale. and a few new MLX 5Dof
units available. Let me know how I can help.

The laser scan actually works very well and if you have the funding,
it's a worthwhile system. For the extra small investment, the 6dof
Microscribe is the way to go. Additionally, it is slightly easier to
manipulate the stylus. Once the dust settles in the next
manufacturer, I'll be producing a video much like I have on my site
now that shows the use of microscobe, detailing the use of the laser.

Hi Jim, hi Steve,
thanks very much for your reply. I will pass the informarion on to my
supervisor. Next to the G2 system it'll probably be the MX system
which may be most useful. I was also wondering if it is worthwhile to
invest in the 6 degrees of freedom microscribe type as it would allow
for the attachment of the MicroScan laser?
Best,
René

I haven't heard anything official as of yet. But talking to the
Immersion order dept, there is something happening that could be
positive. Hoping to know by the end of the month. As far as stock
goes, I just sold my last G2. There are some higher end MicroScribes
still available (MX, MLX) but that changes on a daily basis. I'm
based
in the states, but routinely ship worldwide. If you would like me to
check, drop me an email.
