-------- Original Message -------- Subject: MorphoJ update to version 1.02e Date: Wed, 6 Oct 2010 11:49:53 -0400 From: Chris Klingenberg <c...@manchester.ac.uk> Reply-To: c...@manchester.ac.uk Organization: University of Manchester To: morphmet@morphometrics.org Dear morphometricians I just posted a new update for MorphoJ on the web site: http://www.flywings.org.uk/MorphoJ_page.htm The update, to version 1.02e contains the following changes: 2-block partial least squares: The main change in the new version is a bug fix in the computations of the P-values for the permutation tests of the correlations between corresponding PLS scores. The test for these correlations in the previous versions was erroneous. But even after the bug is fixed, you should be careful in interpreting the results of this test, and the correlation between the corresponding PLS scores in the two blocks is probably best taken as a descriptive statistic (i.e., best ignore the P-value). The problem is that these correlations can behave strangely if sample sizes are small or if there are dimensions with very little or no variation. Thanks to Andrea Cardini for flagging this up. The new version also contains fixes for a variety of minor bugs (unhelpful error messages etc.). Thanks to all who reported these occurrences. Best wishes, Chris -- *************************************************************** Christian Peter Klingenberg Faculty of Life Sciences The University of Manchester Michael Smith Building Oxford Road Manchester M13 9PT United Kingdom Telephone: +44 161 275 3899 Fax: +44 161 275 5082 E-mail: c...@manchester.ac.uk Web: http://www.flywings.org.uk Skype: chris_klingenberg ***************************************************************
