Cheers, kieran *Position Available: Researcher and Lab Manager, X-ray Computed Tomography Facility, University of Minnesota* We are seeking a research scientist to oversee a new high-resolution X-Ray Computed Tomography (XRCT) facility at the University of Minnesota. The lab is housed in the Department of Earth Sciences, but is intended for use by researchers in earth sciences, anthropology, engineering, materials sciences, medical devices, soil sciences, and other fields. The preferred qualification for the position is a Ph.D. at the time of appointment (in any field relevant to the operation of the XRCT) and either XRCT experience or other relevant technical expertise. The position is annually renewable, with longer contracts possible after the first year. The preferred start date is March 2012. The XRCT research scientist must have an interest in participating in XRCT-related research, and ideally will conduct their own externally funded research program. In addition, the research scientist will be responsible for routine maintenance, organizing lab scheduling, billing and other accounting, as well as advertising the facility to maintain and expand the user base. Some training will be available, including on-site and off-site advanced user training sessions and workshops.
