Subject: factor out/estimate absent landmarks

Hi everybody,

I'm working with a dataset of bioluminescent fishes, and am interested in changes in the positions of their photophores (small, light-producing organs that appear in discrete complexes). Some genera, however, are missing individual photophores from these complexes, e.g. one genus has a single tail photophore and all the other genera have two.

I'm wondering what softwares are available for getting around the problem of "absent" landmarks. They are not technically "missing," but gone. Also, how should I number the landmarks as I am digitizing the points? I normally use tpsdig2, but I do not see an option to "skip" a point.

Thanks!

~John
