Subject: duplicates and "rectangular" patches in Landmark
      To: [email protected]

Dear friends and colleagues

I hope you all enjoyed your holidays.
I am running into an exporting problem in the program Landmark. When trying to
export data (points and patches) in dta format while allowing duplicates,
everything seemst to work fine, irrespective of the size of the patches. When
trying to export the same data without allowing duplicates, the program seems
to be unable to handle certain patches. As far as I can tell, "square" patches
(e.g., 5x5, 15x15 or 25x25 points) are exported fine. When trying to export
"rectangular" patches (e.g., 5x15 or 5x25 points), however, the program deletes
the right number of landmarks for eliminating doubles, but not actually the
right landsmarks. So, I am left with holes in my patches and still have double
landmarks. I have not been able to find anything on this in the manual, which
only mentions using odd numbers for the size of the patches. Has anybody else
encountered a similar problem? Is it true that I can only use "square" patches,
or is there a way to work around this?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wishing you the very best for the new year,

Anneke van Heteren
