Dear Emma,

I don't know if there is too much difference except for correct usage.

Phylogeny is a noun taken to mean the development history of phyla or
phylogenesis. Phylogenetics uses the suffix -ic on the end which makes the noun
phylogeny into an adjective. I would tend to use phylogeny as the developmental
history of the phyla in question while phylogenetics should indicate the
describing or studying the phylogeny.

I imagine morphometry and morphometricis might be similar in distinction.

Apart from that, I think it's an answer buried in the history of these terms.

Cheers.

Alannah
