The book is called Boy: Tales of Childhood and it's written by Roald Dahl. It is filled with stories from his childhood and many are incredible! The section I referenced described a candy shop owner, Mrs. Pratchett. I used it as an example of "show, don't tell" during writing, my students are working on personal narratives.
