Colleen,

I think Lucy Calkins' Field Guides have lists of great books. I just read a
book entitled "Even Hockey Players Read" by David Booth. He has some great
lists of books and reading material that are engaging to boys. You might also
visit the LitLife website. Pam Allyn and her team of staff developers have put
together some great suggestions of books that you would want in your classroom
library. I know the lists were on the website at one time. The address is
www.litlifein.com. LitLife is actually doing some staff development for us in
Fairfield, and I've found working with Pam to be very satisfying, visionary
work. If you have a copy of "Strategies that Work" by Harvey and Goudvis,
Appendix A in that book (page 197) begins an exhaustive list of books by genre
and organized by strategies they support--excellent resource.
