You might consider Meredith Davis from the Manhattan New School. I'm not sure
exactly how to contact Meredith, but I'm copying her mom, Judy Davis. Judy
retired from the Manhattan New School and is the author of The No-Nonsense
Guide to Teaching Writing. Meredith has done some good work with a friend of
mine in Greenwich.

On Feb 1-3 I will be attending the Technology, Reading and Learning
Difficulties Conference in San Francisco. Let me know if you are going
to
be there too and want to meet somehow. Ellin Keene is one of the

Have you tried www.kto8.com? It is subcription based but wonderful! You
have an account for each child, and you are able to assign lessons to
them, monitor their progress and even look at their online tests. It's
great!

We use the toolkit in grades 3 and above. Our district has a contract
with
Steph and she has done many professional growth days for us. In fact
she
will be with us this Friday and I am looking forward to hearing her new

thoughts. Her website for the kit has lots of good information and
explanations. I
think it is Comprehensiontoolkit.com.
We spent many days this year finding books and articles to use with the
kit.
The teachers like it, but they find that to do the lessons takes lots
of
time. Her organizers are very good. There is also a CD of the
articles she
uses. Each school started with 3 copies and we have added more. If
you are
interested in learning more about it, go to the website.

Marsha

Since the teacher is able to choose the lessons for each child, along
with the level (beg. or advanced) it could definately be used for
interventions. There are lesson plans to help the teacher introduce the
lesson, and then practices and assessments for the students to complete.
I found that the practices were often enough for most of the students.
However, I only assigned assignments that I had already introduced with
the class. Reading, writing and math are all covered on this site.
