Touching Spirit Bear is a great book. It has a lot of themes in it besides the coming of age general theme. It touches on child abuse, alcoholism, bullying, survival. Definitely read it yourself before reading it to your students. Some students may be sensitive to the graphic descriptions of bullying and abuse in the book. It lends itself very well to a literature circle. I've read it three times and each time I find something else that moves me about the book. I hope you enjoy the book.
