I love read a-louds. I thought of a few books that might work… House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros - This is a series of vignettes written in first person of day to day activities or a series pf observations. The poetic language reveals the Espearnza’s life and her struggle with the difference between a house and a home.
Here are a few other titles: Sharon G. Flake has written a few books that might work as well such as The Skin I’m In, Begging for Change and Money Hungry- Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Jazmine’s Notebook by Nikki Grimes is another good one. Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata These two books are beautifully written and just sound great hen they are read a-loud. They are sometimes used with younger audiences, but I just love the sounds of the language. Ida B by Katherine Hannigan Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo Jim Trelease has a great resource that you might want to look into! I know he has written his Read A-loud Handbook” that might help you out! Good Luck! _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list Mosaic@literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
