I understand what many of you are saying. I have been at a campus who worked very hard toward balanced literacy. You could walk the halls and see Reading and Writing workshop going on every day. There was so much collaboration and professional growth. Our principal was so supportive. Then the awful "incentive bonuses" were whispered about. When they were said out loud and voted on, I knew after five years at this campus it was time to go. On the last day of school I found out our principal was leaving to. I just felt that no amount of money would change the way I felt in my heart toward teaching and helping students. So I am going to a brand new campus in 5th grade, where I have taught for the 5 years. I am a little nervous about the balanced literacy situation. I do know our whole district was moving that direction last year, so maybe they will have already saw the light. It was so refreshing to read this today and know others are going through the same thing. Lisa Branon 5th grade Reading/Language Arts Horizons Liaison M.Robinson Elementary
