Deb, A colleague and I have held several Family Literacy Nights that focused only on writing. We had parents and students participate in joint and independent writing activities that connected to family. We are planning another FLN on Nov. 5th, but are looking to include reading ideas as well. Would you be interested in sharing what you have done?
The following are some websites we found helpful in planning from the writing perspective: www.californiawritingproject.org- They have an inexpensive booklet for parents that focuses on ways to encourage writing at home. We ordered and gave one to each family that attended. www.nwp.org- The National Writing Project website.
