Some of my schools use DIBELS. If you google DIBELS you will find the website.
The assessments and progress monitoring tests are all free.

The assessment does not tell you areas of weakness in comprehension. It makes
some assumptions about comprehensoin based on rate and accuracy. I have found
that there is a high correlation for kids who score in the "at risk" category
on DIBELS, also score low on the benchmark assessments from F&P.

The phonemic awareness assessment at the kindergarten level is very good.
Susan Barton recommends this as an initial screener as it will allow you to
document kids who may have reading problems.

So again, the test is good at helping you find kids who are having trouble and
you can progress monitor using the DIBELS forms to see if whatever you are
doing is having an impact. But in my opinion, t's a good idea to use this
assessment in conjunction with others as well.
