Does anyone have a list of children's books that can be used to teach specific skills in grades 1-5? For example, The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash would be useful for teaching Cause and Effect.
Thanks,
Marianne

Hi Kendra,

A lot of our K-2 teachers use Miller's Reading With Meaning for strategy instruction--in fact, I used it in 3rd, too. She breaks strategies into chunks which can be individual lessons. Many of our 3-5 teachers use Strategies That Work by Harvey & Goudvis. Great strategy lessons you can take straight from the text. And H&G also have The Comprehension Toolkit for nonfiction for older kids (4-5?).

Subject: [MOSAIC] Strategies Across Grade Levels

Good Morning! As a teacher coach, I have been questioning how strategy
lesson should look different across K-5. In our system, we take a
strategy a month to focus on. The teachers that I work with and I have
started a discussion about how we should be doing different lessons at
each grade level. Have any of you addressed this in your schools and
what did it look like? Are there any resources out there for us to use?
Thanks so much:-)
