I use Storyworks from Scholastic. It is a monthly (sometimes bimonthly)
magazine with nonfiction, short fiction, reader's theater, grammar, debate,
and two text comparisons. It also has multiple opportunities in each issue
for students to submit their own writing. Right now you can check it out
for free. Tons of downloadable graphic organizers and practice pages that
accompany the various articles and stories. They are making a conscious
effort to have text and lessons that support the CCCS. I use it a lot to
supplement my mentor text for strategy instruction.

I teach fifth grade. Older students can use Scope, which is a higher level
, but have many of the same articles.
