I love to use The Royal Bee by the Park sisters. As a suggestion, you can read 
halfway through, stop and have them record their prediction (and their 
reasoning) - or think, pair, share - then finish the book.  My students cheer 
at the end of the book. 
Lots to discuss, infer, predict.
