Yes, the take-home books are awesome. We stamped them with our school stamp
and ask students to bring them back, but in the case they get lost, it's far
less of a problem than with the regular books.

One other thing that I'm not sure has been mentioned . . . it is strongly
encouraged that this program be used in groups of 3, no more than 4, to
maximize instruction. While this might seem like a "no-brainer" for
supplemental instruction, some have been tempted to increase group size since
the program is so good, but it is very difficult for instruction to not become
watered down when doing this and time is definitely a problem as you add more
students. I have done 4 in a group in two situations. The first did not work
as it was a group where 3/4 had behavior issues that definitely impacted our
work. The other situation worked well as behaviors weren't a consistent issue.

Again, hope that is helpful.
I love reading these comments and am glad to know that this program has been as
successful for others as it has been for us.

The Red System begins at Level L, however the interest level of the books would
work well for middle school struggling students. I use the assessment piece
to
document growth. I agree with others, there is a good match between LLI and
Common Core expectations. A big difference between the Blue System and Red is
that with Blue, there are b&w copies of the books for kids to take home for
additional practice. The Red System does not offer that.

Great materials, far superior to any others I have used!

instance, say we have 6th graders who are reading at 3rd grade level. Would it
be wise to use the LLI 3rd grade system with them or do you recommend another
system?
