I know tuning takes a long time, but should tuning with factored moses take orders of magnitude more time than without? I've built two systems with the same data, about 320K training examples. The non-factored version tunes just fine under 10 hours. But tuning the factored version sometimes takes several minutes per sentence (max was 28 minutes), and in 10 hours, only got through 197 tuning segments in it's first iteration. Am I doing something wrong, and if not, is there a way to speed up tuning, maybe limit the search space? My factored version has 1 translation step, and 1 generation step. Thanks Jeffrey Micher
