Barry Haddow and I have a fully funded (for UK/EU students) PhD position
to work on spoken language translation in the H2020 ELITR project. The
planned start date is Jan-March 2019.

The candidate will work within the Statistical Machine Translation group
at the University of Edinburgh (http://www.statmt.org/ued/  
<http://www.statmt.org/ued/),>  ) which has a
long track record in statistical and neural MT. It is a supportive group
which has many alumni who have moved on to interesting positions in
research and industry. We also have access to large GPU clusters and to
a regular programme of seminars and workshops with internationally
recognised experts.

You should have the following :

- A degree (or near completion) in computer science, artificial
intelligence, or a related discipline,
- Background in machine learning and natural language processing,
- Strong programming skills

We will start selecting candidates in December 2018, so we recommend
applying by 30/11/2018.
