Hello,

I would like to add a static graphical overlay (i.e. a partially
transparent image) to the captured images (that are served via motion's
webserver). I saw in the documentation that there is out-of-the-box
support for a text overlay but could not find any references to
graphical overlays. I could not find anything in the mailing list
archive or the source code either so I guess it is not implemented yet.
How hard would it be to add? Would you merge a respective patch if I
could get it to work myself?

Since I need the overlay only for the images served by the webserver I
guess I could hack something into the html output as well as a last
resort(?).

Hello

My name is Michael and I work on project with raspberry and raspberry
Camera black, so I need some help with Motion.

The objectives of my project are: record the video in full hd and stream
in less quality in 3G.

For now I make a script for record videos in full HD with raspivid.

I use with command line:

/ raspivid -t 0 -w 1280 -h 720 -fps 25 -b 1200000 -o - | cvlc
stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#rtp{sdp=rtsp://:8554/}' :demux=h264/

and after I have another instance of vlc to record and cut in file of 10
minutes.

Now I want to stream the video with 3G but it very too big for the
connection so I would like to use the stream of Motion (I need only the
stream so I have to disable the record and motion detection of motion).

I tried to change rtsp in http and send this flux to Motion like and IP
Camera:

/ raspivid -t 0 -w 1280 -h 720 -fps 25 -b 1200000 -o - | cvlc -v
stream:///dev/stdin --http-caching=10000 --sout
"#standard{access=http{mime=multipart/x-mixed-replace},mux=ts,dst=:8554}":demux=h264/

and my motion.conf

/ netcam_url http://127.0.0.1:8554//

But it is doesn?t work. The mine type isn?t compatible with motion.

What version of Motion is better for do this Original or for raspivid?

How can I use Motion with http stream?

Do you have another idea?

In Motion for raspberry camera where is the capture of the video from
the camera maybe I have to change this capture and use my http flux?

Thank you very much

Regards

Michael

I'm not sure if this will help, but I have a lot of experience using Mini
PCs (MK808, MK802IV, ODROID-C1) as smart cameras. Typically I use JPEG or
RAW USB cameras and GStreamer to create an MJPEG stream. I don't use Motion
any more, but something like this should work:

gst-launch-1.0 v4l2src, timeout=5 ! video/x-raw, framerate=30/1, width=800,
height=600 ! jpegenc ! multipartmux boundary=cvp ! tcpclientsink port=9999

motion only supports MJPEG HTTP and RTSP input streams. You can't just mux
your h264 into http without transcoding it to MJPEG.

--sout
'#transcode{vcodec=mjpg,vb=10000,scale=1,width=1280,height=720}:standard{access=http,mux=mpjpeg,dst=
0.0.0.0:8081}'
--sout-http-mime="multipart/x-mixed-replace;boundary=7b3cc56e5f51db803f790dad720ed50a"

But using motion just for streaming is overkill. You should consider some
lightweight solution, like mjpg-streamer or as Steve suggested Gstreamer.
