Maybe it's not the most clever question, but... how to disable motion
deamon?
I can't find how to do it. Is "killall motion" only one option?

Best regards
Mariusz

But still with no positive result.

Could someone please help me?

Best regards

Why not use curl or wget to talk to the control port? There is an example
cron script in the docs showing how to disable motion.

http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/MotionGuideBasicFeatures#Remote_Control_with_http

If you really want the daemon to go away, that depends on the way you start
it. If you use service, you should probably shut it down with service, etc.

I'm asking because I'm trying to config monit as a watchdog for motion.
So I'm looking to stop program command.

Motion from time to time crash and there is need to confrol it to be sure
monitoring is really working all the time.
And monit ( https://mmonit.com/monit/ ) is a perfect tool to do it.

PS. What kind of protocol should I check on 8080 and 8081 during motion is
enabled ?

###################################################
##Check motion
###################################################

check process motion with pidfile /var/run/motion/motion.pid
   group system
   start program "/usr/bin/motion"
   stop program "/usr/bin/motion stop"
# if failed port 8080 protocol ssh then restart
if 5 restarts within 5 cycles then timeout

Best regards
Mariusz
