Motion writes the picture file at the end of event. That's why you can't
use picture in your script.
To workaround - in your script you can trigger "snapshot" creation and send
"lastsnap.jpg" file. Like this:

curl -s http://localhost:8000/0/action/snapshot > /dev/null

Don't forget to specify snapshot file name as "lastsnap" in your config

Hi to all,

I am using motion software on Raspberry Pi. I managed to install it
without problems, and video stream and motion detection are working
fine. Also, motion saves video file and image when motion is detected
without any problems. Now I want to send these files to FTP server in
my local network. For this I need to use on_picture_save option in the
motion.config. However, it seems that on_picture_save event is never
triggered, no matter which command I use as the argument. (Yes, I
removed command character from the line)

Do you have any idea why this is happening? I cannot see any problem in the log.

Thanks in advance,

Slavica

Can you provide how your on_picture_save looks like?
Also, try running motion verbose to see if it logs any error running your
command
