I don't know, but I see Ubuntu has package libavformat-dev which might
be worth installing.

Hi Colin
Thanx for kind reply. I've tried to change the repository also but I get
some security issues and when trying to install the dev I get the following
:
*Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have*
*requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable*
*distribution that some required packages have not yet been created*
*or been moved out of Incoming.*
*The following information may help to resolve the situation:*
*The following packages have unmet dependencies:*
* libavformat-dev : Depends: libavcodec-dev (= 7:2.8.6-1ubuntu2) but it is
not going to be installed*
* Depends: libavutil-dev (= 7:2.8.6-1ubuntu2) but
10:2.6.9-dmo1 is to be installed*
* Depends: libswresample-dev (= 7:2.8.6-1ubuntu2) but it
is not going to be installed*
*E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.*
This thing drives me crazy .....
