Subject: [Motion-user] run motion as root?

I try now to test my set-up with 3 cameras. Originally I only used one,
but now I have added 2 more (including the 2 more configuration files).
However only the first camera is activated. When I run motion as root
all 3 cameras work as they should. Surely motion should normally be run
as normal user. But what can cause there that only one camera is
streaming?
Cheers
Uli

Carefully compare the permissions of the configuration files (and
directories) for the different cameras, including extended attributes. In
addition to the "stat" and "ls" commands there is a utility called
"getfacl". If there are special programs you are piping output to, the
executable permissions might also be restricted. Lastly, though unlikely,
if somehow you are attempting to listen on local ports below the number
1024, then root would be the only account allowed to do so.
