To find the version, open a terminal and type *motion -version* it gave me
an error, but showed the version and all possible arguments. To see where
the log is, you can open your configuration file and there is an entry for
where the log file should be. By default, it is usually in the
/home/user/motion directory, but may be different depending on how you set
it up.

Motion is version 4.0.? My log file is in /var/log but I don't see
anything yet that points to the problem.? Other more annoying thing is
that it is intermittent.
