Okay guys, thanks for the tips.
All of the tips are a bit confusing and don't appear to be very easy to setup
(at least after reading man pages and their websites, etc) for easily-amused
types like me (re: big dummy!'s...get it? Those who are old enough to have
watched Sanford and Son will get it).
I'll just keep reading and re-reading until a part sinks in, then do it all
over again and hope another part sinks in, and eventually maybe it'll all
click somehow and I'll smack my forehead and say oh, duh!

Subject: [Motion-user] Question about frame rate...
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

Hey gang,
Okay, I have my Axis cam pointing outside at my bike now instead of the
cheap-o USB Logitech c615.
I've noticed that the videos it saves are slightly 'jerkier' than the Logitech
videos were.
In the motion.conf under 'image processing config params' there is 'Max number
of frames to be captured per second'. Does this mean if this particular cam
does 30 fps, that is the number I should use if I want the best/smoothest
video?
Or, does it mean I can use a number that is different from what the built-in
fps of the cam does?
I just want to make sure I'm clear on this is all, as I was hoping that this
cam would be smoother than the Logitech cam which does 30 fps in the day
and goes to 15 fps at night even though I have it set in the motion file for
the Logitech to do 30 fps. I presumed that it would do 30 fps constantly since
there's nothing on Logitech's site and data about that cam supposedly doing
that on purpose (going from 30 to 15 fps in dark(er) situations).
I hope I made enough sense in my question and need for clarity with this for
someone to answer.
Thanks guys,
JB
