Hi
As Foscam were listed as compatible I got a FI9800P
A bit of a PITA with linux as the drivers you need to login in to cam
dont work, so had to use a VM
rtsp doesn't want to play with VLC
I've tried logging in with
rtsp://user:[email protected]:88/videoMain
I cant see direct on a browser as the driver wont function in linux Mint 20
Looks OK on a VM on win 7
An app on my smart phone shows the video from the cam OK
All Im getting from motion on the web port (8089)
is a grey screen,
my
v4l2_palette 8??? which is mpeg
Its not 17 either
Is this the correct pallet to use for this Foscam FI9800P ?????
At least its a RF quiet cam, no noise between 30 and 90 MHz
I'm using motion 4.0 as one of my cams is not supported in later versions
TIA

Thanks for the quick reply,
I just tried that and still getting the grey screen with
"unable to open video device"
I see from many posts online that Foscam dropped linux support and chrome
I hope I haven't wasted my money , I got this camera as the motion wiki
said it works,
That wiki is ancient though :(
The foscom manual says to use the http port unless a rtsp port is specified
nmap shows
Nmap scan report for ----00-62-6e-87-0f-87.lan (192.168.1.138)
Host is up (0.0050s latency).
Not shown: 998 closed ports
PORT??? STATE SERVICE
88/tcp? open? kerberos-sec
443/tcp open? https
I'll have a look on the settings and see if a rtsp port can be set
