Thank you again. I guess I should have asked is Motion alright to use on an
everyday computer, or would it be too much to run it with everything else?
Thanks

Hi Billy!

So I guess the good news is you found out there are various utilities
called, using, and etc., 'Motion'.? As MrDave said, this one is plain
ol' Motion: go to https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion? -- at the
right there's a section with title 'About', the next section is
'Releases'. Click to go to that page and select the version? you need.?
...Um, yeah, a little confusing at first glance.

<laff>? I started with MS-DOS 2.11 on a DEC Rainbow 100 -- Windows?? I'm
flipping 5-1/4" floppies!

I think I found another problem: I /think/ your screenshot is Windows
because of the 'My Computer" in the upper left/./? (At the bottom 'free
space: 0 bytes' is a bad sign unless it's reading from a CD/DVD.)? AFAIK
Motion only works under Linux; I'm pretty sure the viewing of the
videos, live streaming, etc., can be done with any Operating System
("OS", frequently Windows, Linux/Ubuntu).? Since your used to being told
where to send your money (<g>) to keep using Motion you might want to
consider purchasing a Raspberry Pi 4 4 GB kit? -- that's RPi 4 as in
version, with 4 GB of memory.? Not sure if can get by with the 2 GB
version and the 8 GB version is overkill -- I'm using RPI4 4GB here.?
Various kits out there which include the Pi, case, power supply, the
HDMI cable adapter, microSD card.? Around $85-100, depending on what you
get and what you need.? The Raspbian command structure is semi-similar
to what I remember of the Windows command line; clicking the mouse on
the pretty pictures (icons) is pretty much the same.? For installing
Motion I pretty much copied and pasted -- copied from the downloaded
instructions, pasted to the command line.
Barry
