Only thing I can suggest is make sure the file names and paths match in
your conf files. If I remember correctly the motion.log will tell you if it
doesn't see the mask file correctly and may give you a clue when you start
motion. I'm not sure what log level you have to use.

I just managed to start motion and now I see that a new "motionplus" is
available.
Can motionplus issues discussed here?
Should I discard motion and switch to motionplus on my raspberry?
