I did put MotionPlus on the support page along with the email list so in
that respect I'd say that it is on-topic.? With that said however I'd
guess that if it is limited to MotionPlus, there is a discussions page
on github.
With respect to the other question as whether it is available, I'd
indicate that it does not have a release yet but is getting close.? The
last feature that I wanted to add is now in place (sound frequency
detection) and I'm testing it all on my server.
As for whether to change from Motion to MotionPlus, that is up to you.?
MotionPlus will be more dynamic and adding/revising/enhancing things
while Motion will remain static and stable.

I do have the motion.log showing when it had errors finding the mask on
the previous day, and then restarted after fixing the early mistake.
I was as thorough as I could be in double checking the files with the
results, before asking here.
After additional restarts it is working correctly now. I've seen enough
movement just above the mask line, that it ignored, and then below the
line that worked, to believe it is no longer an issue.
I can't determine what went wrong, but am willing to leave it behind
since there has been no other comments.

Subject: [Motion-user] replaying rtsp stream for testing changes not
triggering motion
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed
Over the last year, I had numerous examples where I could see movement
on a live mplayer/mpv stream, but motion failed to trigger when
expected. The mask was ok, and the threshold was low, usually 30, and
even tried 20 and 5.
I wonder:
1. is the noise level a floor at which smaller %D (changed pixels) fail
to register?
2. is motion using a formula where lighter colors moving across a
different color but also light background, fail to get noticed? Maybe a
grey-scale conversion?
and 3. Can I replay a rtsp stream I saved with ffmpeg, that can be
replayed into motion to test what it thought of the change I saw?
Thank you,
Stewart
