In an afternoon walk around lake of the isles I saw several species. I = did not have my binoculars with me and could use help on some of the = species anyway. =20 I definitely saw a great blue heron... this seems out of season to me. =20 Other waterfowl includes Hooded mergansers Buffleheads Red Breasted Mergansers? (A little far away but definitely not Common or = Hooded) American Coot Pied Billed Grebe Canada Geese Mallard =20 Other possibilities Eared or Horned Grebe? (Very dark small diving birds with crests, near = hooded mergansers. I am not positive on this I.D. and could use some = help. If anyone checks the area and has binoculars please give a look.) Red Necked Grebe (Slightly larger, but definitely a grebe with red on = the back of the neck... also seen from a distance without binoculars) =20 -----Original Message----- From: Michael Hendrickson [mailto:smithvil...@charter.net] Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 2:23 PM To: MOU Subject: [mou] Stormy Park Pt. Today Tom Auer and I searched and searched for the Spotted Towhee and = failed again but the home owner saw the bird at 8am this morning. Go = Figure! =20 So we birded down along the point to the park and saw the rafts of ducks = which was larger because of the 25-30 east wind gusts! Today we saw 5-6 = Black Scoters and 4 White-wing Scoters just inside the park entrance on = the bay side. =20 The best bird for the day was a adult and imm. Trumpeter Swan in the = little cove at the boat launch at Park Pt. =20 While looking for the Spotted Towhee in the driving rain and heavy gusts = Tom spotted a huge flock of shorebirds all the same size flying over the = house. Tom said it at least 200 birds i nthe flock. They might of been = all Sanderlings. I was watching the lake at 12th street and saw a flock = of 50 shorebirds about Sanderling size zippimg over 12th street heading = toward the bay and Tom's flock was heading towards the bay as well. =20 Other birds: =20 Common Redpoll visiting the feeder where the Towhee was found. =20 Its going to be very very interesting what birds might of been blown in = this 2 day storm. I am hoping for a Purple Sandpiper or a Kittiwake. =20 Mike Hendrickson ------_=_NextPart_001_01C3A3D8.47CBC35D Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4522.1800" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><SPAN class=3D513535619-05112003><FONT face=3DArial color=3D#0000ff = size=3D2>In an=20 afternoon walk around lake of the isles I saw several species.
